Vienna’s English theatre - Virtual Heroes
Last Wednesday we had the chance to see some real fantastic actors.
We visited the Vienna’s English theatre group here in Lienz who performed
the play “Virtual Heroes”.
Rita Dobbs and Kevin Miller, two students, are the main characters in this play.
Rita is clever and good at school but hasn’t got any friends.
Kevin is a dreamer and the class clown. Both teens have got problems
and both are bullied at school.
They both play an online game called “Fantasy Craft” in which you can choose your
own virtual character. Rita changes into Sapphire Stone, a famous singer, songwriter
and member of the international rescue service team. Kevin’s avatar, named
Byron Toombs, is a young and good looking historical explorer.
In their virtual world they master adventures. They get to know each other and finally fall in
love, too, not knowing who the other one is in reality. When they realize, they are first shocked, but then stay together and help each other. In the end they overcome their
problems and succeed.
The play ends with a nice song written by Rita’s avatar Sapphire Stone:
No, it don’t cost a penny
to give someone a smile,
or ask how they’re doing
and linger awhile.
There’s too many lonely
locked down in despair.
No, It don’t cost a penny
to show that you care.
Reach out to each other,
try a walk in their shoes.
And just don’t turn away
to give someone the blues.
We really liked the words and meaning of this song as well as the play.
We also liked the actors. It was great fun watching them play their roles.
It was a fantastic time and we enjoyed it very much!
